Dear Reader,
I am looking forward to sharing this wonderful story with you. It truly is a joy ride from start to finish. The book I will be sharing with you is To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee. It is about a young girl and her family during the time of depression. The era where white and blacks are separated. The characters include Scout, Jem, Atticus, Calpurnia, Boo, Dill, Bob Ewell, Ms. Maudie. Those are just a few of the main characters.
When Scout and Jem first met Dill, they hit it off right away! They became instant friends. They all shared the same love for reading and acting out books and events. They would often act out books. One day when they where going to have a fun ride in the tire they accidentally pushed Scout a little to far. She rolled in to the Radley's yard and heard Boo laugh for the first time. During the school year Scout and Jem would often walk home after school, one day they started noticing little items in the tree, they figured out that they where from Boo. Soon though Mr. Radley covered the hole with cement.
One night when the children where sleeping they where awoken by Atticus telling them they had to go outside. The reason was because Miss Maudie's house was on fire. She was not really upset by the fact that her house was burnt to a crisp. Tim Johnson's dog got rabies and Atticus had to shoot it. That was the first time the kids saw Atticus shoot. They later learned that he was the best shot in Maycomb. One day when Atticus was gone Calpurnia decided it would be a good idea for her to take Scout and Jem to her church. Now Calpurnia is African American, so the kids went to an African American church. They seemed to really enjoy it.
Jem got really angry and Mrs. Dubose because she called Atticus a name, so he went and cut up her flowers. Jem's punishment was that he had to go and read to her for a month. Later on you find out that she dies. The trial of Tom Robinson then takes place. Atticus was appointed to help Tom prove he was innocent. That is all I can give you. I don't want to ruin the rest of the story.
To Kill a Mockingbird is truly a remarkable book. I really hope you enjoy reading this.
Have a nice day,
Joshua Einertson
